    • Payments-related businesses are the lifeblood of banks, making up about one-quarter of total banking revenues worldwide.

    • This interactive visualizes how the market will shift from 2015 through 2025.

    • Mature and emerging markets are evolving at different speeds.

    • Change will vary depending on technology adoption, customer expectations and behavior, and the regulatory landscape.

    • Payments players that foresee these shifts, and that take action to effectively navigate them, will prosper.

This interactive explores how regions and segments of the payments market will shift in important ways from 2015 through 2025.

The selected stories in chapters 1–4 of the interactive explore four aspects of this evolution:

    • Diverging Growth Across Regions. The interactive shows how change will take place at dramatically different speeds in mature and emerging markets.
    • Retail Payments. The interactive illustrates how the main source of growth in consumer-related payments businesses will vary by market.
    • Wholesale Payments. The interactive depicts the revenue types that are driving performance in business and government-related payments services across regions.
    • Cross-Border Payments. The interactive maps payment flows across borders, which will increase with growth in international trade.

Chapter 5 allows you to discover your own stories and to narrow the results to a particular segment and revenue type. For each region, you can view data from 2015 through 2025 for transaction volume, transaction value, total revenues, revenues per transaction, and share of global revenues, as well as five-year and ten-year growth rates.
